sketch ‘n’ stroll workshop
Fancy spending a little time in the outdoors with your sketchbook, taking time to slow down, stretch your legs and sketch with a bunch of like-minded people?
Sketch n’ Stroll Workshops are designed for those of you who:
Love to explore the outdoors and would like to take time to slow down, focus on the present moment and the smaller details, whilst connecting with yourself, your surroundings and the people in your company.
Are new or returning to your creative self and would like an opportunity to nurture your confidence and connect with your creative flow. All abilities welcome.
The Plan
We will begin our session in the peaceful ambience of the Old Parsonage Gardens, moving along the River Mersey and circling back through Fletcher Moss Park.
We will take a short stop at the lovely outdoor cafe Alpine Tea Rooms for drinks and light refreshments under the canopy of the trees, before we continue to our final drawing spot in the Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens.
Through changing landscapes and considered stops along the way, this workshop will encourage you to take inspiration from and make responses to your surroundings as you are guided to record your encounters through a series mindful and playful approaches to drawing.
This is a relaxed and easy circular (ish) walk. There will be a chance to regroup and share your squiggles and experiences over drinks, food and discussion at the end of the session if you wish, as we make our way to The Didsbury.
What should I bring?
I travel fairly light with a trusty technical pencil, a rubber, a few contrasting colouring pencils and a pen as well as my sketchbook.
I will provide HB pencils, pens and paper to those who require materials.
Bring along any drawing materials you would like to use. You will need a pencil (or a set if you would like), a pen, a few coloured pencils and a sketchbook. Feel free to bring anything else if you’re a seasoned sketcher or you fancy giving something a go!
A good pair of boots and precautions for the Manchester weather are also advisable!
Tickets
Tickets cost £18 per person. Please book via the Eventbrite link below.
In the event a walk is cancelled due to bad weather, an alternative date or refund will be offered.
